‘Moana 2’ Photos: Meet The Voice Cast Of New Disney Animated Musical
Moana and Maui are back for an all-new adventure with Moana 2, the hotly anticipated sequel to the 2016 animated musical blockbuster.
Moana was honored in 2017 with a Best Animated Feature Oscar nomination, as well as a Best Original Song nomination for the tune How Far I’ll Go.
In addition, Moana was a worldwide box office blockbuster, earning, per The Numbers, more than $686 million globally.
Moana 2 opens in theaters on Wednesday. Here’s a look at the actors who provide the voices of the main characters in the Moana sequel.
Moana (Auli'i Cravalho)
Auli'i Cravalho is reprising her the title voice role of Moana in Moana 2.
Moana was Cravalho’s first film role. She has since reprised the voice role of Moana for assorted Disney projects including the 2018 animated hit Ralph Breaks the Internet, and voiced a guest role for the animated series Elena of Avalor.
Cravalho has also appeared in such streaming series as The Power and films including the 2024 musical version of Mean Girls.
Maui (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson)
Dwayne Johnson reprises his Moana voice role of Maui in Moana 2.
Johnson, of course, had a successful career as a wrestling champ in the World Wrestling Entertainment sphere before transistioning to his career in film and television.
Johnson has appeared in such blockbuster hits as Jumanji and its sequel and six films in The Fast and the Furious franchise.
In addition, Johnson has starred in such hits as The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King, as well as Rampage, Skyscraper, San Andreas, Red Notice.
Johnson also stars in the new Christmas action adventure Red One.
Temeura Morrison (Chief Tui)
Temeura Morrison reprises his Moana voice role of Chief Tui in Moana 2.
Morrison’s film credits include the hits Once Were Warriors and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (as Jango Fett).
Morrison also starred as Jango Fett’s grown son, Boba Fett, in the Star Wars Disney+ streaming series The Mandalorian and its spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett.
Nicole Scherzinger (Sina)
Nicole Scherzinger reprises her Moana voice role of Sina in Moana 2.
Scherzinger first acquired stardom as a member of the pop and dance group The Pussycat Dolls.
In addition to the first Moana film, Scherzinger’s screen credits include the TV movie version of Dirty Dancing, as well as a voice role in Ralph Breaks the Internet. Scherzinger also served as a judge on both the U.K. and U.S. versions of the reality series competition The X Factor.
Currently, Scherzinger is enjoying the sucess of her acclaimed turn as Norma Desmond in the revival production of the classic musical Sunset Boulevard on Broadway.
Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda (Simea)
Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda voices Simea in Moana 2. The film marks Lambert-Tsuda’s screen debut.
Rated PG, Moana 2 is directed by David G. Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller.
Moana 2 opens in theaters nationwide on Wednesday.
